Karabük is a hilly, densely forested province in the Western Black Sea Region, bordered by Zonguldak, Bartın, Kastamonu, Çankırı and Bolu. It carries plate code 78 and has about 235,000 inhabitants in 6 districts. The city grew around the iron and steel works founded in the early Republican era. Its best-known gem, though, is Safranbolu, a UNESCO World Heritage town of narrow lanes, timber-framed Ottoman mansions, an old bazaar and famous Turkish delight. The forests of Yenice are popular with hikers and nature lovers.

Winters in Karabük can be snowy and foggy, and roads in the valleys may ice over quickly, so visitors heading to Safranbolu or on towards the Black Sea coast often check conditions first. This page features the live camera at the Hıdırlık viewpoint overlooking Safranbolu, together with live weather and links to live cams in nearby districts and neighbouring provinces.
