Zermatt is a famous mountain village in the Swiss canton of Valais, lying at the foot of the Matterhorn and largely closed to combustion-engine cars. With its pyramid-shaped summit, the Matterhorn is one of the most recognisable mountains in the Alps. Thanks to its glacier, skiing is possible even in summer.
