Arashiyama, on the western edge of Kyoto at the foot of forested hills, has been celebrated for its scenery for centuries. Togetsukyō, the Moon Crossing Bridge, is a historic bridge over the Katsura River and, with the mountains behind it, is regarded as the symbol of Arashiyama. The famous bamboo grove and several temples are close by.
