Palandöken – Ejder 3200 Lift A live cam

This Palandöken live webcam, run by Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality, points at the lower lift line known as Lift A at the Ejder 3200 ski area, south of Erzurum city. The frame takes in the lift pylons, the start of the beginner and intermediate slopes and the base area at roughly 2,200 metres, where the ski schools gather and most first-time visitors spend their day. The resort sits on the northern face of Palandöken Mountain, about 7 to 10 kilometres from the city centre.

The lower part of Ejder 3200

Palandöken rises from a base near 2,200 metres to the 3,176-metre Ejder summit. Sources give the total piste length as anywhere between 28 and 43 kilometres; the longest descent is around 12 kilometres and drops close to 1,000 metres in one run. The slopes around Lift A are the gentlest part of that network, with wide, moderately pitched terrain and far less wind than higher up. After the 2011 Winter Universiade, which held its snowboard and freestyle events here, the resort passed to the provincial sports directorate and, from 2016, to the metropolitan municipality.

Season and snow

The skiing season usually opens in early December and runs to mid-April, with snow lingering into May on the upper mountain. When natural snow arrives late, the lower pistes are covered with artificial snow, so the Lift A sector is normally the first to open. Part of the lower slopes is floodlit for evening skiing.

Erzurum Airport lies roughly 15 kilometres away and the drive from the city centre is short, though winter tyres are essential on the mountain road. Palandöken weather can turn within hours, so an early-morning look gives the clearest picture of the day; by mid-afternoon the sun moves west and shadows lengthen across the pistes.
